A Traumatic Brain Injury (“TBI”) is damage to the brain caused by an external physical force that leaves a person with either temporary or permanent problems in physical functioning, social skills and/or cognitive abilities. While anyone can be at risk for brain injury, males ranging from 15 to 24 years of age are most at risk, as are victims of child abuse and the elderly.
Some of the behavioral difficulties associated with TBI can include:
• Restlessness
• Impulsive behavior
• Anxiety
• Lack of interest in life
• Difficulty controlling emotions
• Decreased ability to cope with stress
• Depression
• Frustration
• Aggression and irritability
